Balance sheets and Income Statements can be produced through the GL business reporting. Each transactions end up in debits and credits anyway. That information drives the financial reporting and business reporting.

BRP - produces financial statements, how the business is doing for external entities.

Feeder Process: AP, AR, OE/S, Payroll, Inventory. All processes are considered feeder processes.

You will not find a GL table, but you have to find a way to organize these data transactions into meaningful data.

1. Posting
2. Totaling
3. Trial Balance [debit = credit]
4. Adjusting Entries (Controller needs to figure out about these situations)
5. Adjusted Trial Balance
6. Closing Accounts

ERP in Marketing
They need to be configured according to the needs of the organization. A marketing strategy is set up as far as sales, inventory processing and production.

There can be automated sales processing such as reaching a reorder point and the system goes to generate new purchase.

Consider:
1.0 Presales
2.0 Sales Order
3.0 Inventory Sourcing
4.0 Delviery
5.0 Billing
6.0 Payment

There's three parts to a price: Price, discount and freight.

Customer Relationship Management - establishing relationship with a customer so that we can conduct business on the same customer.
In Presales there is contacting, quote, identify; all of these processes can be automated by ERP.

Campaign Management Software - automate the aspect of sales, or works to manage a sales force. This is essential in management.

Final Exam: April 20 9am - 11am 3M69

Everything in IPP is being recorded what's going on, recording performance, events, transition of materials as part of it. Constantly recording manufacturing events.

As soon as there is a design, you can ship the product to be built. There is always a design process though.

Such as CAD, there is a computer software to aid planning to build the product.

Workcenter is a group of workstations. Describes the place where a work step will be involved.

You want to be as repetitive as possible in manufacturing, so workers get used to it.

Variance Analysis - all org. have info about standard costs of production. That info is readily available for everybody to use. They compare their actual costs to standard costs; compare what they're doing. It's a process in itself. They do this to better manufacturing process.

Lecture 9-14
Review Documenting Information Systems
30 MC
2 out of 3 Questions for second part (diagrams)

Integrated Production Processes is Manufacturing
Designing the product all the way to establishing the schedules for production, resources and people to manage a finished product.
This is a production environment in a manufacturing environment.

Manufacturing has changed a lot with regard to globalization, to communicate and to transport goods. There are countries that benefit in manufacturing and so sharing information and transport of goods aren't difficult anymore. Organizations need to have a global focus, and understand the economy of other countries in order to outsource for manufacturing. There is competition all over the world. There are Information Systems to help; these IS are lean, automated, customer-focused, and efficient.

The higher relevance that globalization is taking is because of information technology and appropriate management of it.

Drivers of manufacturing competitiveness (ability to manage these ensure competitiveness)
1. Talent-driven innovation (the need to be better at doing something using one's pool of resources)
2. Economic, trade, financial, and tax system (cope with the changing circumstances).
3. Cost and availability of labor and materials (complexities of availability of labour and costs).
4. Supplier network (companies should be able to have connections in their locations).
5. Legal and regulatory system (be aware of the laws and adapt to them).
6. Physical infrastructure (such as physical buildings and warehouses, Internet and energy)
7. Energy cost and policies (energy for production and the costs)

Org. manage their information and technology and they will be competitive. They may need for collaboration and flexible for changes. They should be visible in the market as well.

Business Process Innovation

Product Innovation - org. must certainly need perform great business innovation. Designs new product or improved product that have been developed in the market.

PLM - Product Lifecycle Management

Push is pushing your products (in large batches) to your customers. Pull is pulling your customers to get your products (when orders are received).

Awesome Supply Chain Management is needed in order to have an awesome pull approach.

E-business is using information technology to execute business processes. E-commerce is a subset.

HRM is part of expenditure, because there is a payroll system involved.

What type of information to keep in order to maintain an employee:
1. Name / Personal Information
2. Qualifications
3. Roles / Position
- current
- past
- desired
- (dates / start / end)
4. Courses Taken
- past courses (LMS)
- desired courses (LMS)
* Learning Management System
** Can also tie in with qualification.
5. Salary
- (dates / start / end)
6. Benefits
7. Vacation
8. Pension Information (would also tie with salary)

Human Capital Management understands that employees are an asset. Organizations have to make great efforts and establish processes with the help of an IS in order to maintain their employees. HCM is more than just an administrative cost, it is a strategic investment. Although assets need to be controlled, and make sure that the organization is providing returns from the investment.

HCM involves in recruiting.
Recruiting -> Hiring -> Attendance (manage) -> Compensation (manage) -> Benefits (manage) -> Training (manage) -> Leave / Vacation
The above are part of HR management process.

By applying their knowledge, skills and time they are the enablers to the goals of the organization.
As an organization, they want to maximize that value, the potential result from the human capital.

Payroll can be automated, because it contains a bunch of calculations (such as deductions, salary, and attendance). We need the right information at the right time when it is required. When it is automated, there will be significant time savings. One single source of information regarding employees is important for HRM and payroll processes.

HR function must reduce costs in staffing in general.

There are also outsource payroll systems in addition to internal payroll.

As long as there is correct information inflow, we can automate the processes.
