Integrated Production Processes is Manufacturing
Designing the product all the way to establishing the schedules for production, resources and people to manage a finished product.
This is a production environment in a manufacturing environment.

Manufacturing has changed a lot with regard to globalization, to communicate and to transport goods. There are countries that benefit in manufacturing and so sharing information and transport of goods aren't difficult anymore. Organizations need to have a global focus, and understand the economy of other countries in order to outsource for manufacturing. There is competition all over the world. There are Information Systems to help; these IS are lean, automated, customer-focused, and efficient.

The higher relevance that globalization is taking is because of information technology and appropriate management of it.

Drivers of manufacturing competitiveness (ability to manage these ensure competitiveness)
1. Talent-driven innovation (the need to be better at doing something using one's pool of resources)
2. Economic, trade, financial, and tax system (cope with the changing circumstances).
3. Cost and availability of labor and materials (complexities of availability of labour and costs).
4. Supplier network (companies should be able to have connections in their locations).
5. Legal and regulatory system (be aware of the laws and adapt to them).
6. Physical infrastructure (such as physical buildings and warehouses, Internet and energy)
7. Energy cost and policies (energy for production and the costs)

Org. manage their information and technology and they will be competitive. They may need for collaboration and flexible for changes. They should be visible in the market as well.
